An Idea Was Born

After recently starting my photography business I was trying to think of a fun project to undertake.  At first I wanted to do something similar to a “body positive” campaign.  You know, showcase how we are all beautiful.  Then my mind jumped.  I wanted to focus my project around the homeless in Montana.  Buy them a meal, take their picture, and listen to their stories.  I am a relatively shy person and although I liked the idea, quite frankly, I’m not quite ready to get that far out of my comfort zone.

Then I thought…DOGS!  I freaking love dogs. So I pondered over how I could make it into a project and try to do some good with it.  I decided I wanted to do something to raise money for Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter.  For a couple of reasons.

  1. I used to work there (back when it was basically run out of trailers) and I wanted to continue to support such a great no kill shelter.
  2. I also adopted my beloved Kiska from them.  Sadly, he passed away this year and I wanted to something in honor of his life and how much he changed mine for the better.

Then I came up with the idea for the Bozeman Pet Project.
